Product description
High quality clutches “Made in Bavaria” for Vespa Largeframe models. CNC machined from one piece.

The clutch baskets from MMW are the answer to all problems with the original baskets of the Vespa Cosa clutch. Not only are they made of high-quality material using the CNC process and are solidly dimensioned, the basket also consists of only one part. This eliminates the need for the vulnerable riveting between the outer and inner parts of the basket.
CNC manufactured
One-piece basket
Designed for 10 springs

The one-piece design of the clutch basket, requires a special clutch base plate as a counterpart on the crankshaft. This means that the standard clutch base plate is no longer required. The new combination of basket and base plate can accommodate 10 springs.

Superstrong
MMW clutch baskets are available in 2 versions. The Superstrong version is an absolutely bullet-proof clutch for almost all tuning levels, as originally launched by MMW. The assembly requires an extended or turned out clutch cover. This is due to the thickened material on the outer radius of the basket. Due to the material used and the generous dimensioning, it is almost impossible to bend the clutch basket open. To make the surfaces even more resistant, the basket is nitrided.

Ultrastrong
The Ultrastrong clutch is a modification of the Superstrong commissioned by from MMW. It is also milled from the solid, the surface is also nitrided, the basket is also in one piece and is connected to the crankshaft by means of the same base plate. Only the basic material and dimensions vary slightly. As a result, the Ultrastrong can be installed “plug and play” under the original clutch cover. This means that the Ultrastrong is not quite as powerful as the Superstrong. However, it transmits power of up to 35 hp without any problems. This makes it ideal for touring and sports engines.

Attention:
Due to the tolerances of the surrounding components (e.g. clutch cover or engine housing), it may be that the clutch cover has to be slightly machined. This can be done by hand with a grinding tool. A thinner spacer between the crankshaft and the clutch or thicker separators in the clutch also provide more space for the clutch cover.

Superstrong JM

The “Superstrong JM” is an even more stable version of the “Superstrong”. The inner diameter of the basket is 1mm smaller. This increases the material thickness at the lugs by 0.5mm and makes them more resistant. Due to the narrower diameter, the pads are also guided more precisely. As a result, the clutch works more precisely and sensitively. The basket of the “Superstrong JM” is not nitrided. This should make the material even more resistant to high loads. However, this makes the basket more susceptible to wear by the plates. Practical tests have shown that this effect is negligible. Even more ideal is the combination with pads on aluminium base material.
