Product description
A very stable and attractively formed front suspension damper mounting.
Many Lambretta models were not factory-fitted with shock absorbers on the front forks. This cost-cutting measure would not be possible nowadays as the scooter would never receive approval for road use, or even sale to the public from the relevant authorities. The contact between the tyre and road surface is dangerously inadequate without a functioning shock absorber system.
Luckily nowadays aftermarket fork damping systems are available that allow these items to be retro-fitted. The most simple solution is to bolt the mountings for the dampers to the lower forks, the most economic of which are attached with inadequately dimensioned sheet-metal clamps that fail eventually. This leads to an imprecise transmission of the forces through the suspension and also an inefficient function. This improvised mechanism hardly adds to the positive look of the scooter either.
These upper fork damper mountings, by MMW, solves both problems simultaneously. The dampers can then be reliably attached and solidly and dependably operated. The CNC machined clamps maintain a high-end look, more suitable for modern shock absorber systems.
Conclusion:
A high-end update for the Lambretta front wheel suspension.
SIP – TIP: When converting a Lambretta front end suspension to accept dampers it is recommendable to use fork links with existing mountings for the dampers. This is the most reliable method to attach them solidly.
