Many owners and tuners of vintage scooters have expressed
the desire or had a dream of being able to fit a power unit into their pride and joy with all the advantages that completely modern two-stroke technology supplies, with at least 250cc for good measure! It should also be equipped with reliable and proven state-of-the-art components of OEM quality or better, is unobtrusive in appearance and operation and finally should also preferably be completely compatible with plug & play attachment.
CASA PERFORMANCE have now been able to realise this teenage dream with the SSR 265 Scuderia, at least for the Lambretta owners with the necessary spare change…The initial financial hurdle becomes easier to stomach once the potential rewards the rider will enjoy are considered.
This motor provides 47PS of power, straight out-of-the-box. It is delivered with all necessary peripheral components, from the exhaust system to the ignition, along with a fully installed five-speed transmission. The clutch has an easy operation and is equipped with a slipper mechanism. The exhaust system has been conceived to allow maximum lean into corners, with no ground contact and the flow of cooling air to the cylinder has been made more efficient. The rear wheel can be optionally mounted using five mounting studs and the crankshaft is considerably larger and sturdier than the original item. The engine casings and chain cover are also constructed more massively, to deal with the extra amount of power available.
The assembled engine unit can be simply fitted into all series I
III, DL/GP and Servetta models and all of the components are made in Europe. The function and durability of the whole engine and motor has been extensively tested on the race track, in everyday traffic conditions and also on longer motorway touring distances with complete success. A well thought out and assembled solution, to reliably satisfy the needs of all power-hungry Lambretta riders.
