Product description
Various types of roller bearings are used in the Vespa’s engine: Thrust bearings, Tapered roller bearings and needle roller
bearings
. We refer to them collectively as engine bearings. They all possess minimal friction values and therefore produce little heat, require less lubrication and are virtually maintenance-free. The only thing that can shorten their life-span are contamination, a heavier than average work-load or a lack of adequate lubrication with a suitable oil. The stronger the state of tune or the higher the mileage a motor has achieved, the more frequently the engine bearings require replacement. We recommend engine bearing renewal during every major engine service or 10000 km (6250 mls.)
Most of the engine bearings we have available are original PIAGGIO items and in order to extend the range , we also have most types of bearings available, that we buy directly by the various manufacutrers.
Do not forget to order new crankshaft oil seals and gasket set when replacing the bearings of your Vespa’s engine. For a quicker and more professional job there are also specialist tools available specifically for this purpose.
The Italian scooter racing scene, often at the forefront of scooter racings technological innovation, is not content with the current standards of
crankshaft bearings
available for their racing scooters. The almost doubling of the amount of engine revs available from modern race motors, as opposed to standard set ups, puts existing bearings under great strain.
The
MALOSSI flywheel side crankshaft bearings
are delivered as pairs, especially for race use. The bearing cage is constructed using fibre-reinforced poly-amid 66 and is ball bearing based with a high load capacity.
The
TB-P6 bearing
is a C3 rated ball bearing, has a bearing cage made of phenolic resin with material based reinforcement and stands out with its extremely precise dimensions and manufacturing tolerances. It is ideally suited for use with high-revving motor set ups.
The single row,
angularly arranged ball bearing
units are designed to be able to deal with both radial and axial forces. It is no easy job to install this bearing type correctly and we recommend the use of the DRT mounting chuck for best results.
The
SKF TN9
are the bearings required for use with FALC crankshaft assemblies. One of these items though can also be used on the flywheel side of non FALC crankshafts…
