5 Plate high end clutch for Vespa Smallframes. Can be used in original as well as in other crankcases.
Just as Falc, Quattrini and the like, BFA lives by the time-honoured concept of race-on-Sunday-sell-on-Monday. The three letters stand for tuning guru Fabio Begani, Renato Fancellu and ET3 Mastermind Alessandro Graiani. Strictly speaking that would already be all the information you need; it
s a mere fact: These guys don
t do things by halve. They themselves, and riders supported by them, are regulars on the podiums of all Italian race series, be it VPI (Vespa Pista Italia), CIA (Campionata Italiano Accelerazione) or the POLINI Cup. BFA Smallframes had the most powerful Vespas at the 2013 custom show, pumping out a huge 48 BHP on the dyno. That sort of power does not happen overnight, and it requires the right components to happen at all

The
BFA Clutch
firmly sits in the upper end of what it possible, even in the world of superpower tuning setups. Each and every component of the clutch is CNC machined from billet in exclusive small batches. The clutch
s aluminium baseplate features seats for up to 16 strong springs (8 large and eight small), eight heavy duty springs are included in the set. The design is inspired by the proven Vespa PK XL2 concept; it uses either four or five carbon plates of a special compound, and aluminium plates in between. The friction coefficient of aluminium is higher than that of steel, and it shifts heat much better than steel too. Hence you get the maximum surface area and friction to reliably transfer the engine torque to the rear wheel. The friction plates feature oil channels that improves oil flow in the clutch to better deal with the heat, they are thin and non-compressible, which ensures the clutch needs minimum travel to separate reliably. With the plates expanding very little when hot the biting point does not move and stays properly defined. With the additional plates the clutch transfers torque without any losses. The kit comes complete with a spacer for the clutch cover and a clutch extractor, and as four or five plate version.
Technical updates for 2019, new interface option
The 2019 version is different from the earlier version in some details. For instance, the outer basket now is lighter, the inner basket features additional seats for springs, and a thread to use the standard clutch extractor. Both the material as well as the design are meant to make the parts even stronger.
In addition to that the 2019 clutch now comes with an optional polygon interface instead of the traditional cone and woodruff key. This can only be used in combination with the suitable inputshaft.
