High-tech clutch for Vespa largeframe models, with improved functionality and power transmission.

The developments in recent years leave very little to be desired for the Vespa largeframe riders. CNC machined clutches, such as the Ultrastrong. Race or MMW
Superstrong easily master all the power you transmit through them. They are easy to operate, very reliable and have successfully managed power outputs of over 50PS! But there is always room for improvement.
Minimal mass on the crank.

The operation principle of this clutch has been reversed. This involves less mass directly mounted on the crankshaft and also has the effect that less force is required for its operation.
The construction of the clutch
In order to reverse its principle method of operation a considerable amount of constructional re-engineering was necessary. The clutch cog is from the earlier PX clutch, but is in this case, bolted into a CNC milled aluminium basket. A needle bearing is now situated between the inner and outer clutch baskets, instead of the original bronze bushing. The force for its operation is now directed through a bearing-equipped pressure plate and all friction and separation plates are produced using aluminium. Similar to the Vespa smallframe clutch, the lower plate now accepts six clutch springs. Additionally the delivery also includes a set of three even stiffer springs, in case more force is required. The entire assembly can be closed with the standard PX200 clutch cover, with minor modifications being sometimes necessary. The friction plates originate from a CR80 motorbike engine.
The clutch is delivered with 2x2mm and 1×1.5mm steel plates. The 1.5mm plate should be installed as the top one, i.e. next to the clutch cover. The scope of delivery includes 6 standard and 6 hard springs. BFA recommends testing the 6 standard springs up to 35HP and, if necessary, partially or completely installing the harder ones.
