Product description
The
clutch
is one of the most or even THE most important engine part and ensures the power train between crankshaft and gearbox. In order to transmit more performance, an increased friction is necessary within the clutch mechanism. Reinforced springs lead to more cohesive pressure, more plates to an increased frictional area. All friction plates can be combined with all reinforced spring types, according to motor and state of tune.
The greater proportion of the clutches we have in our range originate from the long established component manufacturers
FERODO
or
NEWFREN
, that have been producing Vespa clutches since the early 1950’s. The clutch for the Vespa 50-125/PV/ET-3/PK-50-125/5/XL models has a centrally positioned single spring and is delivered ready to mount complete with clutch basket, friction plates and plain plates.
The
Standard Clutch
has 3 cork-material friction plates and is ideal for non-tuned motors. The
Sport Version
has 4 cork-material friction plates and reinforced springs and a good choice for mildly tuned motors, including only kitted motors and also kit and expansion chamber combinations. The 4 carbon fibre friction plates of the
Race Version
have even more grip and are especially suited to highly tuned and/or race motors.
NOTE:
Soak the friction plates overnight with gearbox oil before assembly.
A new woodruff key, clutch nut and locking washers are a must, reinforced springs and friction plates also recommended for tuned motors. Do not forget gearbox oil (SAE30 or even SAE80W90 for the carbon-fibre friction plates) for an overnight soak before assembly!
