“tall 2nd gear” Product description
The advances in motor technology result in ever more powerful and durable engines being produced. If it was perfectly possible in 2007 to become the German smallframe race series champion with an 18 PS motor, these days a minimum of 25 PS is necessary for a podium position. The demands placed upon gearbox components have also risen so the people at
DRT
have reacted with the introduction of the
RSP
range of transmission parts.
The RSP range has enjoyed use on the Italian race circuits since 2011. In Sicily, where they have been employed in races for over two years now, fifty RSP transmission kits have been doing their work reliably without one component failing! The RSP items are constructed using a material tougher than is normally used for transmission parts and are matched and suited to each other for an optimal set up. They should only be combined with other suitable items, which are listed in the download area of our website. Two complete gearing kits, including four gear cogs, a gear selector spider, kickstarter cog and input shaft are also available.
The
RSP ‘Top Race’ NS 245 kit
is normally employed on short, twisty race circuits, such as go kart tracks etc. The cogs of the input shaft, with 19-17-15-12 cog teeth respectively, in combination with gear cogs possessing 57-54-49-47 teeth respectively lead to a set up including a taller second gears, a shorter third gear and an extra short fourth gear.
The
RSP ‘Proto Lungo’ NS 333 kit
is meant for the longer circuits. The cogs of the input shaft, with 20-18-15 and 12 cog teeth respectively, in combination with gear cogs possessing 56-54-50 and 47 teeth respectively lead to a set up including a taller first, second and fourth gears.
While in use on the race track the COBRA primary drive cogs should be used, due to their increased stability and power delivery. e.g. Instead of the usual 27/69 ratio with a 24 teeth cog, the COBRA’s 22/60.
Of course these items are also fully compatible for use beyond the racetracks of this world!

Do not forget to order the COBRA primary drive assembly!

Please note: The “long second gear” gear cog with 54 teeth part no 40435990 only fits the input shaft assembly 40433330 and 4043250 or the original Ape 2nd gear.
