A manifold with a modular assembly, from MRP, for the-BFA Vespa largeframe engine.
The-BFA largeframe engine design includes a large reed-valve inlet, located centrally, over the crankshaft webs. The carburettor flange, or manifold, is routed so the carburettor faces towards the rear of the scooter. MRP have conceived and produced a modularly assembled manifold system, allowing the fitting of differently sized carburettors, in varying positions with numerous reed-petal types.

This manifold system consists of a CNC machined connection, that can be directly bolted to the reed-valve and a manifold to which the carburettor is then attached. Both are available in different sizes, enabling the fitting of differently dimensioned carburettors. There is also a longer manifold available that enables a carburettor to be fitted facing forwards and a shorter version for a rear-facing carburettor to be mounted. The CNC machined connection is slightly slanted and allows rotation, according to the desired direction in which the carburettor should be mounted. This allows an efficient gas-flowed connection between the reed-valve and carburettor, no matter which direction the carburettor faces. In order to facilitate perfect carburettor positioning between the engine and the scooter chassis, the flange pipe is attached using two slotted holes. They allow the pipe to be rotated slightly, enabling ideal adjustment of its end-position.
Additionally, the CNC machined connection pipes are available to fit different reed-valve types, for the original BFA four-petal reed-valve as well as the version produced by Italkit. For an exceptionally sporty and direct set up, the connection rubber can also be directly mounted to the CNC machined connection. The distance between the mounting holes is 70mm.
