The range of cylinders that MALOSSI have available for four-stroke Maxi scooters has, over the years, grown considerably. One of their main selling points has always been a long-lasting reliability in everyday use, despite their high power output. The reason for this is easily explained. The experience that MALOSSI gains on the racing scene results in prototype components being created with this knowledge. These items are then further tested, developed and perfected on the race circuit. This evolutionary process leads to the high quality of the tuning components they produce. In addition MALOSSI use the finest grade of materials and the very latest production techniques to ensure precise, minimal manufacturing tolerances with all of their products. If you happen to be the proud owner of a scooter with a PIAGGIO ‘Leader’ motor then you now have even more reason to be happy! The Italian tuning firm MALOSSI have taken the motor tuning credo that
othing beats capacity, except more capacity
to their hearts and are now producing a 218cc cylinder to enhance the Leaders performance envelope. Up till the presentation of this kit, extensive crankshaft modifications were necessary in order to increase its cubic capacity beyond 209cc. Now Vespa GT / GTS or Gilera VX owners can also enjoy the benefits that more power can provide! The extra capacity is attained by increasing the bore diameter of the cylinder to a whopping 75.5mm, which also provides a noticeable boost in torque delivery, compared to its 209cc predecessor. Further advanced features, such as the aluminium construction and nicasil lined bore, are the typical signs of uncompromisingly high quality that we have come to expect from all MALOSSI performance enhancing cylinders. The 218cc cylinder is compatible with both the original PIAGGIO and the MALOSSI ‘V-4’ performance cylinder heads. If you are planning a full-power motor project then we can recommend the range of complete tuning component kits based around this 218cc cylinder kit to save yourself both time and money hunting high and low for various parts. The kit available for motors with carburettors includes a sharper camshaft and the MALOSSI ‘V-4’ cylinder head, as well as the complete cylinder kit, as part of the package. The tuning kit for motors equipped with fuel-injection also includes the ‘FORCEMASTER 2’ fuel-injection control module, also produced by MALOSSI. The power potential of this kit is depicted in the following motor performance diagrams. Aluminium / 75.5mm bore / four stroke / LC Aluminium cylinder with a nicasil lined bore, an increased cubic capacity, 1:12.5 compression ratio, 48.6mm stroke, fully compatible with the original exhaust and carburettor (or injection) systems, quality forged piston with a high silicate proportion in its alloy for increased solidity, an optimised gas-flow and fuel consumption values.
