This ‘Zuera SS 135cc’ PINASCO race cylinder for the Vespa smallframe motors name is inspired by the ‘Circuito Internacional de Zuera’ race circuit in Spain. Its five transfer and single exhaust port layout sees it rubbing shoulders with the likes of Parmakit, SP09, Quattrini M1, etc. This performance cylinder is manufactured from aluminium and is provided with a high end bore lining material ensuring excellent thermal properties and a solid endurance. The exhaust port is wedge-shaped with a 66% chordal dimension within the 57.5mm bore. The 8mm exhaust mounting studs are 52mm apart and the unmodified port timing is 125
to 185
. The cylinder head is held in place by eight bolts and the centrally located long-thread spark plug opening will require a modified cooling hood to be fitted. The original spark plug opening can be sealed using the specially designed stopper included with the kit. Full Italian and English instructions are included in the delivery. A positioning shoulder is included in the design to ensure a centrally positioned cylinder head. The plated aluminium piston weighs 169gr. and is equipped with a single 1mm thick piston ring and a bi-conic gudgeon pin. In order to fit this cylinder the upper part of the flywheel casing on the engine will require modification. Full English and Italian instructions are included with the kit. Aluminium / 57.5mm bore / five transfer ports / 135cc / 51mm stroke Conclusion: A high quality produced performance cylinder, fit for many uses. From moderate tuning for everyday use, through to a full-blown racing set up! The minimal modifications required for its inclusion can almost be considered as ‘plug & play’! A rewarding upgrade from traditional cast-iron type cylinders, such as the POLINI 133cc. – TIP : Do not forget to order new shaft bearings and suitable oil seals. The clutch unit should also be strengthened or replaced by a ‘DRT Sport’ or similar. The carburettor should be at least 19mm wide and the inclusion of an expansion chamber type exhaust, such as a VSP Race, can easily lead to over 20PS being produced!
