TUNING ROAD – for everyday use Product description
Plug and Play, taken to a new dimension. These new ‘Tuning kits with Part Conformity Certification’ allow us to offer the fruits of our many combined years of scooter tuning experience including documentation enabling immediate inclusion of the performance enhancing tuning parts included in German registered scooter documentation. This additional documentation ensures complete road legality with a minimum of the inevitable bureaucracy involved in having these registered by the German vehicle testing authority (T
V). The POLINI 177cc tuning kit is the strongest performer amongst our customers and our ‘Most-wanted’ road-tune conversion kit packages. It immediately provides a noticeable increase in power output, improved acceleration and a higher maximum speed while remaining solidly reliable with simple attachment and no crankcase modifications necessary. The scooters motor can be returned to its original state, with this kit supplying a far better price/power ratio than the original set up offers. The POLINI 177cc road tuning kit represents one of our favourite performance enhancing packages here at and this is also reflected in its popularity amongst our customers. This combination of components is an excellent upgrade for all 125/150cc largeframe Vespa motors. There are also a number of small but effective components included to round off these kits, such as the float chamber with a larger float needle-valve and the specially designed throttle slide. A complete tuning package easily assembled by the less experienced amongst home mechanics. The central feature of the whole kit is the combination of the notoriously throttle responsive POLINI 177cc cylinder with the larger Dell’Orto SI 24 carburettor, from the Vespa PX 200 motor. A noticeable increase in power output and maximum speed are the reward! We have the kit available in two versions: One including a carburettor WITH a fuel-oil mixing facility and the other has a carburettor WITHOUT this feature. If you wish to tune an aged or high mileage engine we strongly recommend a full service first. Primarily the crankshaft bearings, shaft oil seals and the gear selector cruciform head the group of Vespa two-stroke engine components that require regular replacement. Both conversion kits provide an ideal basis for further tuning measures, but it is important to consider that parts not included in these packages are not covered by the part conformity certification we have arranged. While the engine casings are open you are represented with the opportunity to upgrade the crankshaft and also the exposed transmission parts, essential for a higher top speed and improved acceleration.
Conclusion :
These Tuning Kits including part conformity certification documentation allow budding German-based tuners to benefit from our combined tuning experience for fully legal and reliably fast motors! All this with a clear conscience during the next vehicle inspection or police check point due to completely documented tuning components! Tuning Kit POLINI 177cc road with full part conformity certification documentation: POLINI 177cc performance cylinder, Dell’Orto SI 24.24E (with or without a fuel mixture mechanism) from the PX200 including a larger float chamber and a specially modified throttle slide, larger main jet, ignition point according to included POLINI instructions.
TIP: While assembling this kit check the ignition components and replace the spark plug. Due to the increased performance enabled by this kit the brakes should also be serviced and eventually upgraded with a set of our Performance brake pads/shoes. Good shock absorbers improve the suspension for a more consistent contact with the road while accelerating, cornering and braking! Article with official parts certificate! If you present yourself with this document at the “T
V” or another monitoring institution, the inspector can transfer the values for noise, power and maximum speed directly into the test certificate of your vehicle; this means you save time and costs for these measurements, which usually amount to several hundred euros. With the test certificate, you can then have the changes entered in the vehicle documents at the registration office and from now on you are completely legal on the road with more power! When ordering, please state the chassis number of your vehicle (VIN)! The expert (e.g. T
V) will then check whether the components are installed as described in the certificate. The VIN on which the certificate is issued does not have to be in the area of use of the certificate, i.e. a certificate for a Malossi 210 can also be issued on the VIN of a PX80 (“V8X1T…”). The issuing of the certificate to one single chassis number serves as copy protection. Please use the free text field at the end of the online order to state your VIN or add it to your order by phone. The parts certificate article cannot be sent to you without the VIN. For combinations of performance-enhancing components, please note the tuning kits we have put together for you (e.g. 1010410H). The parts certificates contained therein describe the joint installation of all parts included in the scope of delivery. Attention with mixed installation:
If, for example, you properly install a Polini 177 cylinder with certificate (14000800H) in an original Vespa PX before ’89, the officially recognised expert should accept the modification according to the expert opinion and issue you with a corresponding test certificate. If, for example, you also install a different primary gear ratio or another additional performance-enhancing part (mixed installation), the maximum speed of the vehicle will theoretically change compared to the certificate. In this case, the expert may no longer accept the values from the appraisal and say that he must measure again.
It is therefore often advisable to carry out modifications and registrations in a certain order. E.g. for an oldie Vespa, e.g. VNA: First install a PX-200 engine in its original condition. Then register the original PX values (noise, power, displacement…) in the papers of the VNA. Then retrofit the Malossi cylinder and show up for another test with the parts certificate. Although the VNA is not included in the scope of the Malossi-210 parts certificate, the engine (engine number) installed in the VNA (PX200) is described in the certificate of the cylinder. Often the expert understands this and then takes over the values of the PX 200 parts certificate also for the VNA with the PX200 engine from the example.
Even if you combine two individual items that BOTH have a certificate, e.g. racing cylinder and racing exhaust-Performance, the expert may insist on new measurements. This is because the values of the certificated exhaust are based on use with the original cylinder and the values of the certificated racing cylinder are based on the original exhaust. Neither expert opinion states how the two modifications together affect the engine….
Notes (please check with your preferred test centre):
Not every inspection organisation (GT
, T
V, Dekra, K
S, etc.) and not every test centre may carry out registrations.
Vehicles built in 1989 or later are excluded from performance-enhancing measures because the exhaust behaviour changes. (In individual cases, however, we have heard that registrations were also granted for newer vehicles).
We have made the experience that entries in the vehicle documents usually work without problems if they are properly prepared:
You should have spoken to the expert beforehand.
The vehicle should be in good working order, especially the brakes, when it comes to the acceptance of performance upgrades.
The modifications should be easily recognisable and comprehensible to the inspector (documents ready and modified vehicle parts exposed and clean, identification numbers easily recognisable, etc.).
Even if your vehicle has been modified according to the installation instructions and you show up at the inspection station with a parts certificate, the inspector may refuse to register your vehicle because, for example, the general condition of the vehicle is too poor, e.g. the brakes do not work or the lights, indicators, horn, etc. are defective. It is not sufficient to install the performance-enhancing parts and carry the parts certificate with you. This is only permitted for the journey to the test centre. The conversion must be approved by an expert (test certificate) and entered in the vehicle documents.
