Product description
Speedometer Drive Gears are the connection between speedo cable and speedometer, they make sure that your speedometer shows the correct speed. We’ve named the speedometer drive gears after the vehicle models in which they were originally installed. Often, there will be neither original speedometer, speed cable nor speedometer drive gears in a 40 year old Vespa. In order to find the right speedometer drive gear for your model, the important details are the number of teeth and the size of the four cornered cable of the speedo drive gear, 1.9 mm or 2.7 mm.
We recommend that before you place your order to check the dimensions of the four cornered cable of the existing speedometer cable and the number of teeth of the speedometer drive gear.
SIP-TIP: when installing the speedometer drive gear,
rotate your brake drum gently, otherwise the drive gear will be pressed flat by the speedo drive.
Vintage VESPA models with 10” wheels have speedometer drives with 9 teeth, their counterparts with 8” wheels, however, possess speedometer drives with 11 teeth.
